Warning: Do not purchase "The Frame" by Samsung for vertical playback

It has been brought to my attention (Thanks Sean!) that there might be a less intrusive method of fixing this issue.

Newer models might allow you to disable the feature with the press of a button. See both

Jordie reached out (thanks!) and hinted that setting the HDMI source type to “PC source” made a difference on their 2022 model (QE50LS03B). It still unsure if that’s available on the 2020 models initially covered in this forum posts:

With the RPi connected in HDMI (2nd HDMI-port, 16x9 signal) and the TV turned on, a pop-up shows that it recognises a signal; you now can ID the signal as a PC signal if you wish. We simply pressed the down button and ID the signal as a PC source, which gave the full-screen 16x9 output instantly.

Additionally the following reddit post mentions an “engineer menu”:

I used this YouTube video to figure out which code I needed to access my engineer menu. Mine was (info, settings, mute, power)

Then I searched all menus till I found an accelerometer and set it to false.

My model is 2021, […]

The YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGngUs30dh0 mentions some additional secret key combinations.

If you happen to have such a screen: feedback is very welcome, so this post is kept up-to-date.
