The hosted OS now supports the PCF 8523 RTC. This allows a device to keep time across reboots and allows you to run setups that require a somewhat correct time for scheduling decisions. One example might be the scheduled player package.
The RTC doesn’t have micro- or millisecond precision, so it cannot be used to run any of the video wall packages, as those require a better precision (around 8-16ms).
Note that this doesn’t change the fact that info-beamer hosted is a “mostly online” service. You cannot run devices offline for an extended amount of time. It’s just a helpful addition if you have to handle unreliable network conditions.
Right now this feature requires the testing version. You can enable the RTC by checking the [x] Enable PCF8523 RTC
option on the device detail page:
