time and date overlaid on the main image

Hi! I use info-beamer to show announcements, ads, and time. I would like to ask you to make it possible to show the current time and date on each slide as subtitles on top (overlaid) of the main image. I’ve been looking for an option to embed, but haven’t found anything.

Of the suitable options I liked this one, from Free, customizable clock widget for your own web site - Time.is

Berlin

I suggest adding the current date to the screen with the clock.

Sorry for the delayed response. One way you can use real time browser content in a scheduled player package based setup is to use the new web browser package. Import it into your account. You can use this package and embed it into a scheduled player based one. You need a Pi4 or Pi5 for that. If you’re still using a Pi3, let me know as there’s also a way to make this work on those.

Steps:

  1. On the left side in your package select ‘Add package’, then ‘Add other package…’.

  2. In the popup, use a directory name like “browser”, then select the “Web browser” package by clicking “Add…”:

  3. On a Page in your playlist, click on “Plugin” to add a plugin, then select the Browser:

  4. You can move around the browser content like any other piece of content and can set a URL to open:

  5. Assign to a device and the output should look like this:

I found other online watches that work better for me Genaue Zeit
and yet, to run them I need a 300MB browser, while Scheduled Player weighs only 10MB.
Yes I am using RP3.

Aside from reimplementing the clock as a native widget, there isn’t away around that overhead. 300MB is bloated for sure (which I personally also don’t like), but it’s somewhat manageable. The way to browser integration now works also ensures there’s only a single instance running, so it can hopefully share some of the memory, even if multiple pages are activate at the same time. I consider it okayish.

I found another online clock that looks nice in full screen mode Online Uhr – Wie viel Uhr ist es?
